Smoother, easier organization of Networks

Create and manage hashtags to organize network posts better. Now you can tag content, browse by hashtag, and keep your conversations more focused with the latest updates now available for iOS (1.50.0) and Android (1.41.1).

Also, specifically on Android, with Networks, ‘New Members’ and ‘Settings’ tabs simplify network management, while post threads collapse as you scroll for cleaner reading. Additionally, connectivity is improved with better offline handling and auto media upload recovery.

Share networks via QR code

Share public networks more easily via a link or a QR code. Existing users can join the network instantly, while new users are automatically added after the quick onboarding process.

Additionally in networks, the admin role has been renamed to ‘owner’, and in the latest update for both platforms - iOS (1.47.0) and Android (1.40.0) - several network-related issues have been fixed for a smoother experience.

Networks now comes with comments

Add, edit, delete, and like comments to engage with content within Networks. All of those actions are now available in the latest updates on both iOS (1.46.0) and Android (1.39.2) platforms.

Also, on Android, the network feed UI has been given a facelift to improve the feed, so when you are in the middle of the feed and new posts are published, a “New Post” tag is shown.

Group calls come to Thunderbolt Web

Start, join, and manage group calls directly from Thunderbolt Web with support for up to 20 participants, thanks to the latest web app update (1.309.0). Group calls enable real-time collaboration from your browser, bringing web users closer to feature parity with the experience already available on Android and iOS platforms.

November & December 2025

Public networks experience improved

The latest version of both Android (1.37.1) and iOS (1.44.2) bring important improvements using public networks. You can now connect to public networks with conversation history saved, allowing you to view the full message history across devices — including messages sent before you joined.

Also, posts within public networks now have a dedicated, post-style layout (instead of appearing as messages), enabling you to create, like, and delete posts with a single image or video.

The network feed has also been reversed so new posts appear at the top, making it easier to stay up to date with the latest activity.

Easy file sharing, message management, dark mode and notifications on web app

The latest version of the Thunderbolt web app (1.285.0) brings you a lot of core features already available on Android and iOS. You can now receive notifications for messages and activity to stay informed even when not actively checking the web app. This helps you respond more promptly and remain aware of ongoing conversations in Thunderbolt Web.

Also, you can now quickly share documents and media directly within chat conversations, while message management is also a better experience with support for editing and deleting sent messages, replying directly to specific messages, and forwarding messages to other chats.

It is also now possible to react to messages on the web app using emoji reactions and mention other users within conversations, while Thunderbolt Web now also supports dark mode by automatically following the your system theme. This improves accessibility and visual experience, especially in low-light environments.

September & October 2025

Smoother chats, smarter Networks, and a fresh new look for iOS users.

On Android, the latest update (1.32.1) gives you a better experience with Networks. Admins can now edit details, users can report Networks, and everyone can copy or delete their own messages.

Additionally, each message bubble now shows your domain name and profile image, so conversations feel more personal. Plus, setting up new sessions in multisession mode now comes with a helpful progress screen to keep you in the loop.

With the new iOS update (1.38.1), dark mode is here! Switch between light, dark, or system settings to match your mood.

Network management gets an upgrade too: admins can edit or terminate Networks, and members can copy or delete their own messages. We’ve also refined the chat list under the hood for better performance and stability.

Invite your friends, even if they don’t have a domain

You can now invite up to 20 friends without domains to join Thunderbolt by doing the following:

  • Open Settings

  • Go to Sub-accounts management

  • Create a sub-account under your domain

  • Send them an invite

They can join in seconds with a simple link or QR code (available on both iOS and Android).

Create group chats

You can now enjoy audio and video calls in groups of up to 20 participants. A simple way to stay connected, not just through messages but through real conversations, all in one place (available on both iOS and Android).

Please note that this is the MVP version of group calls, with more UX/UI enhancements on the way. Feel free to try it out and give us your feedback. It’s incredibly valuable in helping us prioritize any bug fixes and improvements.

Smoother experience on macOS

On macOS, you can now accept or reject calls via an in-app window, making your experience smoother and more intuitive (note: group calls are not yet available on macOS).
