On September 22, 2026, President Trump told the UN General Assembly that the US government would rename artificial intelligence. The new term: Super Intelligence. The abbreviation: SI.
The next day, 3,234 .si domains were registered, up from around 100 a day earlier that month. By the end of September, 46,066 new .si domains had been registered, and Registry SI reported a 2,199% increase in September registrations. The market responded immediately.
Who's registering, and what it signals
Much of the early activity has come from domain investors. But companies were buying too, and earlier than you might expect. Domain Name Wire found end-user purchases among .si sales in the first half of 2026, months before Super Intelligence became official US government language.
Investors first, with companies already buying. Those who moved on .ai in 2022 got in early, when far more names were still available. With .si, that moment looks like now.
Two companies worth paying attention to: Recursive paid $20,000 for recursive.si. Safe Superintelligence Inc. hit a $30 billion valuation in 2025 and partnered with Nvidia in July 2026. The Super Intelligence narrative has real commercial weight behind it.
The bet is that more companies will follow. Based on .ai, that's not a bad one.
What makes .si worth serious attention
Unlike .ai, .si doesn't require a two-year minimum and doesn't carry premium pricing. It's open to anyone worldwide, no residency required, for one to five years at a time. At $10.98 at Spaceship right now, the barrier to entry is low.
More than 258,000 .si domains had been registered by early October, compared with roughly 1.5 million for .ai. With around a sixth of the registrations, there's far more left to choose from. That's what .ai offered in its early years. It's open now for .si.
