Virtual Machines (VM) is our next-generation VPS hosting that follows all Spaceship standards of quality and approach in all products, and is suitable for both tech-savvy and non-tech-savvy users.
For less technically experienced users, VM opens an opportunity to learn more about using features, resources, and advantages of VPS service. While for tech-savvy users, it brings all the benefits of high-quality VPS services with industry standards.
There are three ways to get VM: From the VPS homepage, the Spaceship Library widget, or the VPS Manager app (not eligible for the first purchase).
To get a VM from the website page:
Select Find your VM.
Choose your server category and hit Configure virtual server.
Instead of traditional hosting packages, Spaceship Virtual Machines offers pre-setup configurations in the following categories:
Standard
CPU-optimized
Memory-optimized
You will be redirected to the list of available VM configurations. Select your preference and hit Continue.
NOTE: You will need to be logged into your Spaceship account to finalize the purchase.
To complete the setup:
Choose an operating system. You can choose LTS versions of: Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, CentOS, Alma Linux, and Rocky Linux.
Set a strong root password for your VM.
You can choose to add an SSH key for an extra layer of security.
Name your Virtual Machine. We pre-fill the name with a default value, but you can add a custom name.
NOTE: Be sure to safely store your VM name, password, and SSH key (if any), as they won’t be emailed to you.
Select Activate.
Activation takes up to a minute, then VPS Manager will appear in Launchpad.
NOTE: If you already own a VM, you can order more in VPS Manager.
Now your server is ready for use.
You may choose to get Virtual Machine in the Spaceship Library:
Log in to your Spaceship account at https://www.spaceship.com
Select Library at the top right.
In the pop-up window, select Hosting.
From the hosting products, choose Virtual Machines.
Choose your preferred server, then Configure virtual server.

You will be redirected to a list of available VM configurations. Make your choice, then hit Continue.

Set a strong root password.
You can choose to add an SSH key (optional) for an extra layer of security.
Name your Virtual Machine.

Select Activate.
Activation takes up to a minute, then VPS Manager will show in Launchpad.
VPS Manager is a management tool for your VPS server where you can:
Check your list of VMs and details (CPU cores, RAM, OS, usage cost, creation date).
Access the console to start working on your server (it opens in a new browser window).
Manage your server power (switch on/off, reboot, reset).
Update root password whenever you need to.
Reinstall Virtual Machine to start from scratch.
Check networking information, such as public/private network IPs.
Monitor your Virtual Machine’s resources.
Terminate Virtual Machine to cancel it completely.
Add Virtual Machine to begin the process.
To order an additional Virtual Machine in VPS Manager:
Open the VPS Manager App.
Select Add Virtual Machine.
You will be redirected to the list of available configurations. Choose your preference and hit Continue.
Complete the required details (similar to VM purchase). Choose an OS, set a strong root password, add an SSH key (optional), and name your Virtual Machine.
NOTE: Be sure to safely store your VM name, password, and SSH key (if any) as they will not be emailed to you.
Select Activate.
5. Your new server should be ready in less than a minute.
Each VM you own has a Manage button. Select this, and a window appears with the following:
Current Pay-as-you-go account usage cost.
Upcoming payment date.
SSH keys (add/remove SSH keys).
Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), with network details, such as IP address.
